October 2020 Important Announcements

GENERAL NEWS & IMPORTANT UPCOMING INFORMATION​​​

  • Our Virtual High Holiday Food Drive in Support of Alameda County Community Food Bank (ACCFB) is still ongoing through the middle of this month! We are currently at 69% of our revised $6,000 goal. Please perform the mitzvah of tzedakah during the high holy days season. Please visit our donation page. For every dollar donated, ACCFB is able to purchase $7 worth of food.

  • TBT is participating in "Every Voice, Every Vote", the Reform movement’s 2020 civic engagement campaign, and has committed to being a 100% voting congregation and working to combat voter suppression. Please be sure to bookmark the new "Every Voice, Every Vote 2020" page on TBT's website. We are posting a new election tip daily, and this page will become increasingly important when California's mail in ballots go out beginning on Monday, 10/5.

  • In October, we're offering a new Virtual Adult Ed course entitled "Wisdom Through Stories". Judaism is full of stories, beginning with Torah and extending all the way to the present. In this class we will explore stories from various points in Jewish history, culling from them insight and inspiration that can enrich our lives. Come join the fun! Class will meet on Tuesdays, 10/13, 10/20, and 10/27 at 7:30pm via Zoom. Please RSVP to education@bethtorah-fremont.orgClasses will be taught by our Director of Congregational Learning, Marla Kolman Antebi. There is no fee for this class, although the suggested donation to TBT is $20 per session.   • Excitement is building as the Women for Reform Judaism Pacific District kicks off activities for their Pacific District Convention "One Vision, Many Voices" on Saturday, 10/24 and Sunday, 10/25 (along with several pre-Convention events). Their Mission is to strengthen the voice of Jewish women and empower them through education, training, engaging discussion and strong personal connections. WRJ can prepare, plan and talk about Convention, but, without your participation, they cannot be successful. The registration deadline is Monday, 10/19, and a special welcome gift will be sent to the first 400 registrants! Please register today!
