8th through 12th Grade
Our teens play a very special role in our community. Whether they want to continue their Jewish learning, build their skill sets as teaching assistants in classrooms working with younger children, or engage with other teens, there are some great opportunities available to them at TBT. We welcome our teens to engage in whatever ways feel right for them.
Sababa (means cool, awesome) Sunday
Sababa Sundays are monthly gatherings where teens get together to connect with friends, study Jewish topics (contemporary and historical) at an elevated level, engage in social justice actions, confront current news and events through the lens of Judaism, go on meaningful field trips, and find respite and support from their otherwise busy lives. We are committed to creating a space that feels nurturing to the soul, as well as super fun.
Co-led by Rabbi Schulman and our Director of Congregational Learning. Check the calendar for Sababa Sunday dates.
Madrichim - teaching assistants/counselors - are a fabulous addition in all our classes. They serve as mentors and helpers, leaders and organizers. Madrcihim assist teachers in the classroom on either or both Sunday mornings from 9:15am to 12:15pm or Tuesday afternoons from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. If you are (or you have) a teen in grade 8-12 who is responsible, caring, and enthusiastic, who have a love for children and Judaism and a desire to share this love with the next generation while themselves growing in the process, this is a perfect role. (It also counts for community service hours). Come join our team!
Mar-Win is the local chapter of BBYO, an international teen-led organization for 8th-12th graders. The purpose of this chapter is to create a greater sense of Jewish identity for the teens in the Tri-City area while simultaneously having an awesome time. The chapter has frequent events and hangouts where teens explore leadership skills, social skills, Jewish education and values, and most importantly have lots of fun! Mar-Win BBYO gives local Jewish teens the chance to have a meaningful extracurricular high school experience where they can make life-long friends and become involved in the Jewish community. BBYO also provides a connection with teens all around the Bay Area during regional events. For more information, please visit our Mar-Win BBYO page.
